Jay’s background involves human factors, human autonomy teaming, UAS detect and avoid, and planning and executing human-in-the-loop simulation studies. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Illinois State University and a Masters in Cognitive Psychology from Purdue University. Jay’s work experience includes:
Planned, advocated, and executed the HIS element of NASA’s UAS Integration into the NAS project. Includes management of the HSI technical team, coordination with other PEs, and the project office.
Detect and Avoid Sub-Project Manager for NASA’s UAS in the NAS Project.
Managed 10-15 diverse employees including Human Factors professionals, test pilots, aeronautical engineers, and software engineers. Advocated for, and managed, a multi-million-dollar research budget. Set research agendas, communicated with high level Army staff, and coordinated with other services and countries.
Leader at a small start-up using speech recognition technology to enable web experience. Led a small team that included business development, marketing, and technical development.
